Meeting the Growing Workforce Demand for Submarine Construction

The ATDM Maritime Workforce Forum focused on how to attract and train qualified workers to maintain the Navy fleet. The event brought 300+ attendees, including leaders from industry, the Department of War and the U.S. Navy.

Microporous Kicks off Construction of New Facility

IALR hosted a beginning-of-construction celebration for the Microporous lithium-ion battery separator manufacturing facility at the Southern Virginia Megasite at Berry Hill. The ceremony follows the company’s announced $1.6 billion investment that is expected to create more than 1,800 new jobs in Southern Virginia.

Canon Virginia Leverages IALR Facilities for Computer Vision Plant Anomaly Detection Research


Pan-tilt-zoom cameras installed in the IALR greenhouse scan plants daily. The images are uploaded to a cloud-based platform, where Canon’s models analyze them, detecting anomalies such as powdery mildew, pests, nutrient imbalance and other stressors.
