Sail of Decommissioned Submarine Installed next to ATDM Maritime Training Center

Hailing from the ex-Buffalo (SSN 715), a decommissioned United States Navy Los Angeles Class nuclear-powered attack submarine, this sail serves as a memorial for the submarine and crew, honors our nation’s service men and women and demonstrates the strong partnership between the Navy and Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing (ATDM). The refurbishment will be completed on site near the ATDM Maritime Training Center at IALR.

The Next generation Of Work (NOW) Teamship program helps students build tangible workplace skills and provides businesses with fresh perspectives and ideas for challenges.

STEM Camps

Registration is now open for engaging, hands-on STEM Camps at IALR. These camps allow students to explore STEM concepts through memorable activities.

Opportunities are available for students in kindergarten through 9th grade. The registration cost for the majority of camps is $175.

Events and Opportunities

The Growing Regional Agriculture Event from IALR and Piedmont Community College will spotlight opportunities for farms of all sizes, introduce participants to emerging regional food hub efforts and encourage collaboration. The event is May 6 from 9-11 a.m.
IALR is hiring for a range of unique positions, including CNC Machinist/Programmer-2nd Shift, ATDM Non-destructive Testing Instructor and ATDM Instructional Specialist.
The annual Southern Virginia Procurement and Business Resource Summit, organized by the Danville Office of Economic Development & Tourism, will take place at IALR on April 30.
The Wonder Community of Lifelong Learning has several upcoming workshops, including an International Rhythms Dance Workshop on Apr. 23 and an Intro to Canva on April 30.
