Sail of Decommissioned Submarine Installed next to ATDM Maritime Training Center

Hailing from the ex-Buffalo (SSN 715), a decommissioned United States Navy Los Angeles Class nuclear-powered attack submarine, this sail serves as a memorial for the submarine and crew, honors our nation’s service men and women and demonstrates the strong partnership between the Navy and Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing (ATDM). The refurbishment will be completed on site near the ATDM Maritime Training Center at IALR.

1,100 Attend God’s Pit Crew Benefit Banquets at IALR

These events highlighted the organization’s mission while also showcasing the Conference Center’s capacity to execute complex, high-attendance gatherings.

IALR Recognized as Top Employer for Interns

This honor from the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia recognizes IALR’s immersive internship program, which spans diverse career fields and offers opportunities for more than a dozen students annually.

Students Help Local Businesses Solve Problems

The Next generation Of Work (NOW) Teamship program helps students build tangible workplace skills and provides businesses with fresh perspectives and ideas for challenges.

STEM Camps

Registration is now open for engaging, hands-on STEM Camps at IALR. These camps allow students to explore STEM concepts through memorable activities.


Opportunities are available for students in kindergarten through 9th grade. The registration cost for the majority of camps is $175.
