15th and Largest ATDM Cohort Graduates

The ceremony honored 98 graduates who completed four months of intensive manufacturing training and are now working in the Maritime Industrial Base.

149 Attend Family Literacy Night

Participants received free books and engaged with memorable activity and resource stations. This event was supported by numerous organizations and 82 volunteers.

IALR Researchers Support High School Students

Nine students in the Piedmont Governor's School for Mathematics, Science and Technology conducted experiments in biotechnology, controlled environment agriculture, chemistry and more.  

3rd Workforce Solutions Summit a Success

Over 100 leaders gathered at IALR to tackle workforce challenges through collaboration and innovation.

Featured Opportunity

The Dan River Year AmeriCorps program is seeking Summer STEM Educators who can complete a 10-week contract. Working across different sites in the region, these educators build and introduce curriculum and activities for students, helping prepare them for middle school by improving their literacy, math and/or STEM skills.

Events and Opportunities 

  • The Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual membership meeting in the IALR Conference Center at 7:30 a.m. on April 15. 

  • Spots are filling up quickly for computer workshops for programs like Microsoft Excel and Canva. General admission is $35 for these three-hour, introductory courses.

  • The Wonder Community of Lifelong Learning is hosting a Dining Etiquette workshop presented by All Forks Etiquette Consulting on April 19 from 10-11 a.m.  

  • Megabytes Cafe is offering two special Easter treats: 7-inch egg-shaped chocolate chip cookie cakes that are available for preorder April 17-18 and chocolate-covered peanut butter or coconut eggs available in the cafe the week of April 14. Call (434) 766-6700 to preorder. 

  • The Southern Piedmont Technology Council is hosting a lunch and learn with NextUp Solutions April 22.
